We would like to bring to the kind notice of our hon’ble well wishers, admirers, devotees and corporate sectors that way back in 1918 Swami Tapanandaji and Swami Krishnanandaji, two initiated disciples of Sri Ma Saradadevi were sent from Belur Math to Bagda for Cholera-relief work. While the loving personality of these monks and their sincere dedication to the selfless service attracted the people, the monks also started liking the solemn vibration of the serene atmosphere over there. With inspiration from these monks some persons went to Jayrambati and were blessed with initiation by Sri Ma Saradadevi. Later a Samity was formed at Bagda which by the grace of Sri Ramakrishna and inspiration from Sri Sri Ma Saradadevi developed into Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Bagda in 1920. This was affiliated to Belur Math as a Branch-centre, in 2007. Situated in a panoramic atmosphere, the Math at Bagda, now serves the cause of the people around in its humble way.
The present activities of this Math include daily-worship in the shrine, religious discourses in the evenings, agricultural-works, medical service (both allopathic and homoeopathic), free coaching service and computer education programme.
Now that in response to the growing demands of the area inhabited mostly by people belonging to the backward communities and to our inner urge to humbly try to address the problems of their deprivation we feel like expanding and improving our service activities, we badly require the following-
Purchase of more land right now for it may be difficult later.
Construction of a Monks’ Quarters (including a common kitchen and dining hall that would provide service to the trainees and others.
Smooth continuation of the educational, health and relief activities and adding to the quality and quantum of service.
Introduction of more vocational training programes for livelihood generation.
For the implementation of the above projects and ideas we require FUNDS amounting to Rs. 2 (Two) crores for the present.
Having high regards for your admiration for the ideal of ‘service to man is service to God’ as propounded by Swami Vivekananda, we earnestly appeal to you to donate liberally for this noble cause so that we can proceed with these projects.
